The 2024 Duxbury Beach Reservation Renovation Project
A $2Million Renovation Project
The total project cost was approximately $2million which was funded entirely by DBR through private donations (no grant funding)
108k Tons of New Sand
83,300 cubic yards (108,000 tons) of dune compatible sediment used to nourish the dune donated by private landowners in Duxbury which reduced our carbon footprint and the total cost of the project
New Dunes and Slopes
The dune was built up to 16.5-17.5ft NAVD88 and widened to a dune crest of 35-45ft with 10:1 slope on the front side and 6:1 slope on the back side
Added Beach Grass & Shrubs
After nourishment, 24,000 culms of American beach grass and 320 woody shrubs (a split of bayberry and beach plum) were planted west of the sand fencing
Newly Installed Fencing
4,300ft of sand fence was installed on the eastern crest of the dune
New Sand Span
New sand spans 4,300ft from the main pedestrian path at the Resident Parking Lot to Crossover 1 on the OSV beach
